The GIC Europe project brings together scholars from different countries with the goal of exploring and developing new methods and perspectives for investigating the Green Intellectual Capital of European organizations.

The firm's GIC, intended as the whole of intangible assets related to sustainability issues, has been proven to be a key factor for promoting sustainability within the organization. Moreover, the GIC has positive effect on both economic performance and the ability to produce and adopt innovations.

Our Mission

Our common goal towards energy transition needs a concerted effort aimed at restructuring production and consumption processes in a sustainable way. However, organizations involvement in the transition process is still challenging due to the widespread perception that green investments are economically unsustainable.

Through our findings, we want to show and state that there is a third way. Growing their Green Intellectual Capital, the organizations can improve their business performance while contributing to the sustainable development of our society.

What We Do

We approach the GIC from a digital perspective based on Big-Data: we collect and analyze all web information concerning how organizations perceive sustainability and their relationship with sustainability issues.

So far, the GIC Europe project has collected data and analyzed data from more than 8000 European firms of the energy sector. In the near future, the project will grow to cover other sectors, relevant to the energy transition, and will cover other types of organizations, such as NGOs, associations, and public organizations, which play a crucial role of coordination and implementation of the transition process.
